VT to hire Odom??

Virginia Tech has been in pursuit of a new head coach since Buzz Williams took the Texas A&M job earlier this week. Now, it looks like they are on the verge of announcing a hire.

According to Gene Wang of the Washington Post, Virginia Tech is set to name UMBC’s Ryan Odom its new head men’s basketball coach later this afternoon. Odom has been at UMBC the last three seasons after a one-year stint at Lenoir-Rhyne.

The announcement is reportedly set for 6 p.m. ET.

As far as not a big name coach not from a power bball conference. Odom does have the ACC bloodlines from father Dave and the history last year of being the first 16 to beat a 1.
Could be a real good hire but the question is out there why?
