This is equal to the the AU Toomer's Corner tree poision

Jun 13, 2013, 8:13 AM

Why have I not seen anything on ESPN about this if we were in the SEC it would be all over their broadcast

Well you don't TP the rock before gameday...

Jun 13, 2013, 8:17 AM

so that's different.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I read about it on ESPN.

Jun 13, 2013, 8:21 AM

I think the Toomer's trees were a bigger deal. The rock is still there, though less of it. The Rock is a very big deal. Perhaps our admin wanted to play it down so as to not give recognition to the perps, or encouraging copy cats.

Killing century old live oaks in a downtown plaza enjoyed by 1000's every day is a higher level of sickness, imho.

Re: I read about it on ESPN.

Jun 13, 2013, 8:24 AM

Disagree, new trees can be planted but the rock is irreplaceable.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that's like saying a new rock can be placed there--

Jun 13, 2013, 8:28 AM

if the rock had been destroyed or stolen, it would be the equivalent. The Toomer trees are a bigger deal-- gone forever. We still have The Rock.

both are sickening but AU situation is worse

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Those trees CANNOT be replaced

Jun 13, 2013, 8:32 AM [ in reply to Re: I read about it on ESPN. ]

They can plant the same species but it is NOT the same.

old trees and the new ones (unless they're told the story). The rock is permanently scarred.

Coming from someone who grew up around those trees

Jun 15, 2013, 5:28 PM

I can safely tell you they wont be the same. It doesn't matter if they are the same species or not. You could argue "its just a rock" or "its just a sign". The fact is its a treasure to each school. Its all the same.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

New trees could be planted about as easily as

Jun 16, 2013, 12:16 AM [ in reply to In 50 years people won't know the difference between the ]

a new rock could sit on that pedestal. It's not ever going to be the same.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tell an Auburn fan that "new trees can be planted" -

Jun 13, 2013, 8:52 AM [ in reply to Re: I read about it on ESPN. ]

that's like telling a Clemson fan to find a new rock.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To me, killing beautiful trees is a bigger deal.

Jun 13, 2013, 8:25 AM

Not diminishing what happened to the rock, but it's just different.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One can grow more trees.

Jun 15, 2013, 8:50 PM

That rock can't be replaced. It's one of a kind therefor it's priceless.

Lets send Danny to Death Valley and bring back a rock about 300 pounds.
