Lessons from Teapot Dome Scandal

and the reason why we need transparency. If there is one thing I hope we can all agree on, with as bloated as the federal government is today, we should operate under the assumption that the crooks are everywhere.

Every candidate for public office, including cabinet, needs to release their tax returns and I defy anyone to make a rational argument why this is a bad idea for the country.

Then Congress should vote on a law for this

But now Trump doesnt have to do chit....

the law has existed since 1924, partly due to Teapot Dome

but more significantly due to a dispute between one of the wealthiest men in Congress James Couzens and Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, and whether or not they had conflicts of interest which affected their votes on tax laws.

There are striking similarities between that situation and today's conflict. Congress implemented this law authorizing two committees to investigate anyone's tax returns, and they've had this power for over 90 years.

So the question is why give the president a free pass? In 2019, after all this history of corruption, are we really that naive?

So where you draw the line

How much flagrant corruption are you willing to accept? Are you ok with bribes?

I'm glad Mueller sent those crooks to prison.

He investigated Trump for nearly two years and found nothing to charge him with a crime. Enough is enough. It's over, you're not getting a do over.
