This Kind of Preparation For Shooter Incident Speaks Volumes

Do Yourself a Favor, Concealed Carry or At Least Egress at High Rate of Speed Using Cover and Concealment, A Plastic and Metal Chair is Not a Good Insurance Policy.

The Wolverines would never mess around with that concealed carry nonsense. Just slinging an automatic rifle over your shoulder each morning guarantees there will no misunderstandings.

Isn't it against the law to conceal carry on campus regardless of permit?

Re: This Kind of Preparation For Shooter Incident Speaks Volumes

Feb 5, 2015, 5:36 PM

that is why you should show up to campus with an automatic rifle, so there are no misunderstandings.

We think we can, but we can't. There is no for sure way to prevent yourself from being injured or killed from a tragedy. In SC, you're much more likely to die in a car accident than being shot and killed with a gun. Just a fact of life, we aren't invincible.

right, until you are just messing around, twirling it on your finger and it accidentally goes off. How are you going to explain to the wife how her favorite cat ended up wrapped in a trash bag and buried in the back yard?

Feb 5, 2015, 5:47 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is it?

Feb 5, 2015, 6:00 PM [ in reply to Still Safer Than "The Chair" Plan*** ]

That chair won't allow anyone to pull that door open from the other side. It sounds like in this case, the shooter was a woman, so I'm going to on the odds she wasn't that strong to begin with. If it was a dude, I still doubt that from the outside, with the leverage of a flat 8" door handle, that he is strong enough to bend those chair legs enough to open the door.

So she, or he, were they very determined, could blow holes in the door with whatever they are shooting (presumably a handgun), but even a large caliber pistol will take many shots through one of those metal doors to make a hole big enough to fit a hand through to physically move the chair out of the way (if they knew the chair was the reason the door wouldn't open). Why would the shooter spend that much time shooting a hand sized hole in a metal door? Most shooters seem to want to shoot and move on...not waste time and ammo to blow holes in a door to get in a room that may or may not be empty.

And if someone in the room were armed..is it better to allow the shooter in the room so an armed person can shoot back at them? Common sense tells me the best way to not get shot is to stay out of the shooters line of sight. I'm not trusting sorority Suzy (who is probably still hungover from last nights mixer) and is the only one carrying (illegally) to be able to pick off (from across the room) a determined shooter with her mini-barrel .22 daddy said she needed to carry in order to make her feel safe him better about walking around 5 points. Especially not in a real shooting event, where its life or death.

So really, the chair in the door thing ain't a bad idea.

You're forgetting that the shooter could climb into the air duct and enter the room from above.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
