How much money did the refs get to help out your Tarholes John.
It's must of been a lot to kill there careers

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

thats good and all..

Nov 1, 2015, 12:56 PM

but even so that bs could keep duke out of the acc title game..the right thing to do would be to reverse the decision to the right decision of no td.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: thats good and all..

Nov 1, 2015, 1:02 PM

True...I feel like it totals up to be a slap on the wrist. What are the details of this suspension? Is it paid leave? Are they fined? If they get fired, do they easily find other jobs elsewhere? I guess what I want to know, is what is the true weight of this punishment because their inadequacy to ref the game may have cost that University some $$$ and an opportunity to play for the ACC Championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think there is a provision to allow overturning

Nov 1, 2015, 1:41 PM

a game result after officials leave the field.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you are prob right..

Nov 1, 2015, 1:54 PM

but i think in certain situations such as this where it is cut and dry there should be..i can see if it where a situation where .well even if a a call was made we would never know if a team would score and what not..but this is clear if the right call was made duke wins

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A Duke loss helps UNC

So even if the league could reverse the outcome you know they wouldn't.

Re: thats good and all..

Nov 1, 2015, 4:36 PM [ in reply to thats good and all.. ]

I completely agree. As the ACC said, "if the replay official had correctly reversed the on-field ruling that the Miami player's knee was not down before the lateral, the ballgame would have been over at that point." So why the h3ll do you not just make the correct ruling after the fact and declare that the ballgame WAS over at that point? Since there was no time on the clock, there would have been no further play, so the outcome could have not been changed. An easy chance to "make it right."

But, of course, Swofford is looking for the way he can best help out the Tar Heels.

ACC officiating is getting worse every year.

Now, let's move on to Death Valley on November 7, and beat the Seminoles! Go Tigers!

What about the assistant coach for NC State that punched in opposing player

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Come on now, he was wrong for slapping him on the back but

Nov 1, 2015, 1:12 PM

It's not like he woody hayes'd him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He didn't punch him. He pushed his shoulder pad.

Nov 1, 2015, 1:16 PM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: ACC announces officiating suspensions following Miami-Duke thriller ]

Get over it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He should be disciplined by NC State and I'll bet he

Nov 1, 2015, 2:10 PM

will be.

He will not be fired, but he definitely should be suspended for a game or some other appropriate punishment for losing his cool n a position where he is "coaching" players NOT to lose their cool.

As a coach, you just can't do that.

He should be punished ... and while they may or may not announce it, I'll bet that he will be.

Re: FB Update: ACC announces officiating suspensions following Miami-Duke thriller

Nov 1, 2015, 12:58 PM

That sux for Duke. They won that game, the Miami player clearly had his knee on the ground and ALL of those officials missed it live and on the replay. Duke was the actual winner of that game. Miami just won the stupidity contest put on by the officials.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

exactly its good the refs got suspended..

Nov 1, 2015, 1:00 PM

but in term that does nothing for duke who takes a loss and could end up missing out on the acc title game due to it..right thing to do would be to reverse it.only ones upset would be miami but oh well do the right thing

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: exactly its good the refs got suspended..

Nov 3, 2015, 5:25 PM

Maybe it was a payback for the score the refs handed Duke on the drive preceding that kick off. There were bogus interference calls.... clock stoppage for no reason...

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is a correctable mistake . . .

Nov 1, 2015, 12:59 PM

knee down, game over, Duke wins. It really is that easy in this case.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Has second/third level money gotten so good that

Nov 1, 2015, 1:00 PM

the ACC member institutions just "put up" with the current conference "leadership"????

The knee isn't even the issue...

Nov 2, 2015, 9:42 AM [ in reply to Re: Has second/third level money gotten so good that ]

Forget the knee and the numerous blocks in the backs...

When the runner hits the 20 yard line, players from the bench come onto the field! That was the biggest miss. Didn't even have helments on! The one guy might have made it into the endzone before the ball!

Live ball foul, play doesn't count, time expired, GAME OVER!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The knee isn't even the issue...

Nov 2, 2015, 11:22 AM

"In addition, the on-field crew failed to penalize a Miami player for leaving the bench area and entering the field prior to the end of the play. This foul would not have negated the touchdown because it would have been enforced as a dead ball foul."

Actually that wouldn't have negated the touchdown, that type of penalty never does.

Re: You can't screw over a NC school and get away with it...

Nov 1, 2015, 9:04 PM

This is true!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you want to see bad officiating, watch the whole game

Nov 1, 2015, 1:13 PM

And it was Miami getting screwed for the first 59:54 of the game.

Penalties 23-194 5-41

Guess which team had 23? It included 3 PI's on Duke's last drive, all ticky tack and questionable, and another bogus targeting call.

Officiating was horrid throughout, the last play just was icing on the cake.

Also, when you're saying his knee was down, what if it had been a fumble? That ball would be considered out at that point.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do I have too? It is Miami and Duke you know.

Nov 1, 2015, 1:21 PM

Joking, a little.

Officials in the ACC are terrible.

We're lucky that Dodd's targeting was overruled. You know the play he was being held on and drug to the ground, but the officials kept citing his number.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Do I have too? It is Miami and Duke you know.

Nov 1, 2015, 9:36 PM

The ACC Supervisor of Official just released their "Revised" explanation the "Targeting"call in the Clemson/NC State game: "The officials thought that 1) BJ was Dodd and Dodd was BJ and that they changed their uniforms simultaneously as BJ was being held and Dodd made the hit on Everett Golson, 2)After the flag was thrown, BJ and Dodd again changed uniforms so to confuse the officials, 3)Before the snap, when Dodd, who was actually BJ was being held but before BJ, who was actually Dodd, made the "head to head" targeting "late hit" "personal foul" on Brad Kaaya, which was an "ejectionable action," but after review, was not targeting but still a "late hit" which still was enforced, although it was not, but still resulted in a 15 yard penalty. That's our story and were sticking with it. JS"... which, just now, gave me a head ache.

Re: If you want to see bad officiating, watch the whole game

Nov 1, 2015, 1:30 PM [ in reply to If you want to see bad officiating, watch the whole game ]

THANK YOU! That is exactly what I said. That last Duke drive was a farce. Duke deserved exactly what it got. How many times have teams been screwed when playing Duke in bball, including Clemson 2007?

Re: FB Update: ACC announces officiating suspensions following Miami-Duke thriller

Nov 1, 2015, 2:08 PM

Question: Is a lateral ruled like a fumble or like a pass? We're looking at this still image and clearly he's touching the ball with his knee down, but it's impossible to tell (maybe you can in the video) if he still has possession of it.

In basketball this would be game over. In football though is there really enough evidence to overturn the call on the field here? I suppose that depends on the rule.

Re: Thank the lord it wasn't one of our games***

Nov 1, 2015, 9:02 PM

Just curious...didn't realize that a penalty can be reviewed. Is that a "reviewable" action? Don't want to get where every penalty is reviewed as it would ruin the game altogether. If reviewing of a penalty (as in the Duke/UM game appears to exist), why was the initial "targeting" call against BJ still called a "late hit"and a 15 yard penalty, when it was clear that it was neither "targeting" nor a "late hit". Glad we weren't playing UNCheaters or Joe Slobbford would have to had dug deeper into his pockets. Can anyone shed some "ruling light?"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Suspensions because Duke lost. 23 flags against Miami.

Nov 2, 2015, 10:23 AM

There would be no mention of anything if the loser was not Duke. When will the officiating bias
for Duke and UNC abate.

WHY???? The only reason that they were trailing was because the same crew screwed them over multiple times on Duke's scoring drive prior to that kick off....
