Why is everyone saying we got home cooking calls?

Oct 2, 2016, 12:58 AM

Like really. I didn't see that at all

And fans of neither team are saying it. People like Virginia fans, SEC fans, etc.

If anything we were screwed...

Oct 2, 2016, 1:00 AM

We'd get a stop on D, then a flag would magically appear

Those complaining are the ones wanting Clemson to lose.

Defensive holding? Wth? Bogus calls

They missed quite a few holding calls against

Oct 2, 2016, 1:03 AM

UL as well. You have to take the good with the bad, especially in the ACC unfortunately.

Re: They missed quite a few holding calls against

Oct 2, 2016, 1:44 AM

Yeah, in the 2nd Half our guys were getting dragged to the ground from behind, seriously. And Mike Williams and our receivers were getting manhandled.

I surmise the refs started giving Louisville a break after Petrino cried and whined about our guys playing rough in the 1st Half. LOL

Re: Why is everyone saying we got home cooking calls?

Oct 2, 2016, 1:03 AM

Yep all the holding calls went our way. As in, when Louisville was blatantly holding our D Line, they called a defensive holding on US. Getting tackled by a left guard or slot receiver is now a 10 yard penalty I guess.

we got screwed the whole 1st qtr, they had numerous bail out calls on 3rd down, they were getting away with holding our DTs in the middle all night. They can whine all they want, we gave them 5 turnovers....that wasn't enough?

Re: Why is everyone saying we got home cooking calls?

They're just mad that we beat the best team from Kentucky the week after they lost to the worst team from Kentucky

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Every time we broke up a pass, the Louisville receivers....

Oct 2, 2016, 1:11 AM

would beg for a flag, whether it was warranted or not. Petrino was on a tirade right before halftime, but Dabo had to get on the officials early in the game on a couple of missed calls.
We got called for defensive holding 3 times tonight. They missed a couple of early PI calls on Louisville, where they clearly got our guys early.
There are a couple of PI that they might could have thrown on us, but one of them was an uncatchable ball that was out of the end zone (announcers didn't notice that in their evaluation of the play)
Louisville had more penalties....but they had several false starts and they had guys taking off their helmet to yell at officials, 12 men on the field, etc.
Offensive holding was not called on either team that I remember.

Not sure what there is to complain about...they let the players play for the most part. Not the refs fault if you false start a bunch of times.

It looked to me a few times the refs let the sidelines determine a flag to be thrown

UL was holding out linemen all night.

Oct 2, 2016, 1:30 AM

I haven't seen a holding call at the LOS yet. UL also blocked below the knees on the LOS, no laundry hit the field. It appeared to me they call a lopsided game but we were sucking hind teat.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UL could have been called for holding on EVERY offensive

Oct 2, 2016, 1:34 AM

play. Seriously.

Get use to it. Nobody cared about calls

Oct 2, 2016, 1:38 AM

when we were losing 4-5 games a year.

We got away with 1 or 2 potential PI calls in the 1st half.

Oct 2, 2016, 1:46 AM

That was really it though. The honest answer to this is that we've reached the point where we are up near the top of the mountain and people are going to start pulling against us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They must have not watched the same game

Oct 2, 2016, 3:32 AM

how many times did the entire stadium boo the refs? Everyone around me and myself thought we were getting screwed. How many time did our receivers get mugged on passes especially Williams. Non of the questionable plays we had on offense were reviewed and seemed like everyone of L-ville's were. There line was holding all night and their WR's were holding down field. Lots of home cooking there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To me...

Oct 2, 2016, 3:42 AM

If you know me, you'd probably know I'm one the least biased person anyone could ever know.

Thing I see that are quite normal and understandable is fans always see and remember things that don't go their way. That's why fans will almost always say that officiating is bad and it goes in the favor of the opposing team. (Of course, when things go my way, I don't complain as much, but I'll still say it's bad.)

That being said, I think the game tonight was one of fairly good officiating jobs by the ACC.

I have seen worse and much worse pretty often.
