They have played one more game than us

Sep 30, 2015, 9:22 PM

I never see or hear that mentioned. I keep hearing "#6 rushing offense versus the #16 rushing defense gives Notre Dame the edge" and "Notre Dame has so many rushing yards" and yada yada yada. No one says "Keep in mind they have played one more game..."

The stats are skewed. Had we played a team like UMass last week we could be a lot closer in offensive and defensive rankings. We could have more points per game. Deshaun could have better numbers. Our defense could have more stops and sacks. But guess what, we played 3 games, and they played 4. Why not at least mention this? If this was late in the season after both teams had a bye, I could understand, but they clearly have an advantage on paper with an extra cupcake under their belt...

We also have not ran the score up on people that we have played. We could have scored 90 against Wofford if we wanted.

Call me a realist but

Not sure we can really talk about UMass propping up their stats when we played App St and Wofford. Not saying Clemson won't win the game but it's hard to argue what is effectively strength of schedule with them at this point in the season.

Besides GT their SOS is pretty soft. And for all we know GT could lose the remainder of their games (They lost to Duke afterall). My point is simply that had we played last weekend, any team, our numbers could be looking better. Or worse for all I know, I am just saying they would be different. And thus judging the game based off this offensive stat or that defensive stat may not tell the whole story.
