Thinking TAMU would have to come with a $10M/yr offer

Aug 23, 2017, 3:36 PM

to get Dabo to listen. I know he's not motivated by money, but I think it would take the Aggies making him the highest paid coach in college football to at least get a meeting. Considering Dabo's age and resume, it would not be outlandish for him to leap over Saban (old), Harbaugh (crazy), and Meyer (documented health issues) and become the top paid head coach in the country. If you think about it, we're currently not even close to paying him his market value.

Is TAMU ready to kick out that kind of money?

Doesn't matter. Dabo has already turned down money at Clemson to build his program. Not going to take a huge raise to take a step back.

That won't work either

Aug 23, 2017, 3:56 PM

...He simply is not leaving Clemson for the A&M job. Keep dreaming A&M fans.

Throw all the money you want at somebody, but at a certain point its not about the money. Ask Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Frank Beamer, Bill Snyder, Jimbo Fisher, etc.....

It's about doing what you love where you love.

For Dabo, right now that place is Clemson.

Thinking Dabo cares less about more money than 99.9%...

I agree, but if someone is willing to double your salary

Aug 23, 2017, 4:12 PM

no matter the profession, you generally at least take that meeting. The money might not excite Dabo much, but it certainly might excite his wife. I know it would mine!

There is a difference in doubling the average salary and millions. 150,000 to 300,000 could be life changing money. 5M to 10M just means your more wealthy. Plus your obviously not familiar with his wife.

It's pretty easy to not care about money

Aug 23, 2017, 4:16 PM [ in reply to Thinking Dabo cares less about more money than 99.9%... ]

When you make millions. Not saying that Dabo would jump for money, but let's not pretend that he's some saint who just does it for the love of coaching. Dude is not hurting and with smart planning, could never work another day and live extremely comfortably for the rest of his life.

No way in he(( that happens. Only scenario we need to worry about is when Saban hangs it up and 'bama comes calling. Which they will.
