There's always a SUPER-BAD player CU "can't overcome"

Dec 28, 2019, 1:51 PM

This is usually, if not always, the narrative in big games - post-season especially. Don't have time to research every game, but the majority of the time, the Tigers are forever facing some "BEAST of a guy" we (supposedly) can't overcome.

This year it's OHST's Chase Young and/or Justin Fields. Last time we met in '16 it was J.T. Barrett, Mike Weber, Curtis Samuel, Tyquan Lewis, etc.

In Jan in the Natty, it was Bama's Tua, Quinnen Williams, Jerry Jeudy, etc. In the '17 Natty it was Jalen Hurts, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Reuben Foster, Calvin Ridley, etc.

In '15 vs OKLA, it was Baker Mayfield, Dede Westbrook, Samaje Perine, etc.

Way back in Jan '82 - for the Natty - it was 2-time Outland Trophy winner Dave Remington of NEB. We handled him quite well. And earlier that year, we took care of UGA's #34 H. Walker. The year before, CU handled Heisman winner George Rogers in a rout.

Always SOMEBODY that's supposed to kill us, only to be proven wrong.

Perine had to limp off the field so many times, I was almost starting to feel sorry for the Sooners. And poor ol' Mayfield got Boulware'd like no other hit he has ever received (even in the NFL). The Sooners do not want any part of CLEMSON ever again.

One of "The Tigernet Irregulars" quoted my favorite the other day..." Never was a horse that couldn't be rode...Never been a rider that couldn't be throwed..."...

Don't forget Major Harris, West Virginia, whose mother was scared to death for her son who was annihilated. She was nearly in tears.
