It is a job, and at the end of the day on a job, its about the money you've made. I'm sure that CJ would have loved playing for the Pats and having a better chance of playing for a championship. But from the way the article read, the Patriots were only offering CJ what he felt was below his value in money. If he was going to take the risk of a career ending injury, go for the money, and that's what he did....

I see but if it were my job and I was making comfortable

money I would want that jewelry that you can't buy......

CJ made it abundantly clear this free agency

Apr 26, 2015, 11:59 AM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: Report: Patriots almost signed C.J. Spiller ]

was all about the benjamins. If Easley High School offered 16.1 million instead of the 16 the Saints gave him, then you would see CJ in the green and white next season.

I'm not sure i would want to be a RB for Belichick though.

That's a tough gig.

I'm not sure I follow your logic

Apr 26, 2015, 5:45 PM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: Report: Patriots almost signed C.J. Spiller ]

The Saints and Patriots have won an equal number of championships over the last 5-10 years. The Saints didn't have a great season last year but they go to the playoffs pretty regularly. Not to mention the warm weather, domed stadium, and the fact they were willing to pay more..

I'm not sure I follow your math

Apr 27, 2015, 11:26 AM

In the last 5 years, you're wrong. New England has 1 championship and played for 2. New Orleans has 0 and played for 0. Going back 5 more years, New Orleans helps you out by winning 1 and playing for 1. New England has 0 and played for 1 in that time period.

In the last 10 years, they each have won 1 but New England has played in 3 to the Saints' 1.

But if you keep going, New England won 3 out of 3 in the 5 years before that and New Orleans are 0 for 0.

If money isn't a factor, I'm signing with the team that's won 4 championships and played for 6 in the last 15 years before the team with 1 in 1 appearance. Clearly, CJ expressed a concern that money was a factor, hence signing with the Saints.

This answers why BB was at Clemson Pro Day***

#### you Saints!
I would have loved for my Pats to pick up Spiller and watch him take handoffs and catch passes from Brady all season.

Agreed. He would've been a yearly All Pro with the Pats. Will certainly be tuning into some Saints games to see how he does this year however.

Amen to that

I wouldn't have taken less to play for the Pats

Apr 26, 2015, 11:13 AM

Sure, they are the team to beat almost every year. But Spiller can prove more with the Saints and certainly prove he's the heir apparent to Ingram.

Both teams can get him the ball, but would love to see him be successful in NE.

Its hard to not take a contract with the Pats

Apr 28, 2015, 1:53 PM [ in reply to Wow...Well Who Would You Play For?? ---- ]

but careers as a RB dont last as long and Spiller got a great offer from a decent franchise. I'd probably take the same deal with the Saints....especially considering that Spiller has been in Buffalo for a few winters and the chance to go to a year round warm weather spot is probably intriguing to him.

This is the Patriot's loss. CJ is a great talent who would have made their lives better. They blew a great opportunity.

It might have been for less money but I think I would like my chance my for a Super Bowl with the Patriots versus the Saints.
