There is NO Clemson Missing Playoffs as 13-0 ACC Champ

Period. A 12-1 Clemson has VERY high risk. Right now the PAC 12 and Big 12 would miss before Clemson and the Big 10 champ and Clemson are dead even. Sorry ESPN SEC only gets 1 team this year if Clemson, ND and OSU stay undefeated.

My prediction:

1) Bama
2) Clemson
3) ND
4) OSU

There never was. Non-story.

Sounds good but if UGA gets through LSU, FL, KY, and AUB

and their only loss is to BAMA in the SECCG, then I don't see how you put ND in over them.

Why not? They didn’t win their conference and they just lost a game. Of course they’ll get left out if ND is undefeated.

He’s right if they lose they should be out

You guys obviously STILL don’t pay attention to how the committee

Works. They go for the 4 best teams period. A 1 loss UGA>ND any way you look at it. Especially if that loss was to #1 Bama in the SECCG. Bama got in last year with a loss and not even playing in their conf championship last year. Ohio St got in similarly the year before. Schedules matter

if their one loss is to Alabama, then they've played

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 12:10 PM

their quarterfinal game and lost. Just like a 12-0 Clemson that lost to Miami in the championship game would get left out because they'd effectively lost their quarterfinal game.

LOL then how do you explain the last two years

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 12:21 PM

Alabama and OSU didn’t even play in their conf championships and lost in the regular season to one of the teams that did. Both got in. OSU got in OVER B1G champion PSU that also beat them in the regular season that year. Your explanation would imply that being in the conf championship is a negative. That may actually be true since teams that didn’t even play in it got in for the last two years. In any case, the justification for both Bama and OSU getting in was “the body of work.” Nothing about quarterfinals or anything like that

Simple... I believe the other teams had 2 losses

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 12:45 PM

And one of the losses for each was bad in eyes of committee.
If I recall correctly, Big 10 Champ Penn St. lost to Mich and Pitt and
Big 10 champ OSU lost to OK and Iowa.

If each Champ had only 1 loss, they both would have likely made the playoffs. Too bad for Clemson OSU lost to Iowa!

I don't disagree with your assertion that a 1 loss UGA would likely be better than an undefeated ND, but I don't think the committee would leave out any undefeated P5 team in lieu of a non-conf champ.

Could be interesting decision this year, but still a lot of football left to play. There will be a few surprises on the field that will help clear it all up come December.

completely agree about the lot of football left to play

I said before I’ll be surprised if UGA makes it through the gauntlet of their next 4 games without a loss

Absolutely agree. the sec runner-up, bamer, only got in last year because Wisconsin dropped the ball. If the dowgs win out and lose to bamer, they are not getting in. I'll be surprised in nd and o-31-o both go undefeated. wv-who will lose at least one.

Bama got in that way and OSU got in that way the year before

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 12:57 AM

UGA would have 5 top 25 wins. They would be clearly superior to ND's record and the CFP has proven that they actually look at SOS.

If ND wins out they are in imo. Now if Us, Bama/UGA, OSU, and WVU win out that would be a tough one for the committee but I doubt that happens.

WVU Would Lose Out....Couch Burners***

Agree most likely but them having a championship game now would help. I doubt we could get left out because the past 3 years and we would have beaten a good A&M team and NCST. We need Cuse, Usuck, and Miami to keep winning tho I think if we win out we are in no matter what. Can't believe Cuse lost to Pitt lol

That would be a shame if ND got in over a one loss UGA bc

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 1:31 AM

they would not be one of the best 4 teams. Now the likelihood of UGA getting through LSU, FL, KY, and AUB without a loss is a whole different story.

Re: That would be a shame if ND got in over a one loss UGA bc

Why in the heck do you say that? Who has UGA beat?? What makes you say UGA is better than ND at this point in the season?

I've explained this in like 3 different threads but here

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 1:40 AM

goes again. If UGA wins out, they will have 5 top 25 wins and 4 of those teams will still likely be in the top 25 at year-end. ND hasn't beaten ANYONE. Their best win was over Stanford who got beat down by a 2-2 Utah team tonight. At best they will have 3 top 25 wins but only 2 of those teams will probably be top 25 at year end...Stanford and Michigan. ND doesn't play any ranked teams in their remaining 6 games. Now, we will likely have 3 top 25 wins too at year end but we will hopefully also have a conf championship. Plus our win against WF was better than ND's win. So that's how I'd justify both us and UGA over ND. Please tell me why you think ND would deserve to be in over either team?

Who has Uga beat

I said for the entire season if UGA stays undefeated

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 12:02 PM

Let me know how ND’s wins would be better. Their best win so far was Stanford who got beat down by a 2-2 Utah team last night. ND’s doesn’t play any ranked teams for their last 6 games, UGA will play at least 4 or 5

Re: That would be a shame if ND got in over a one loss UGA bc

I will give you the head to head with Vandy but Mich, VT, and Stanford are better Ws than what UGA has. If LSU, UF, Auburn, and Kentucky keep winning and only lose to UGA than you may have a case.

Champions from the best 4 conferences should get in. Period.

I’m getting tired of “getting the best four teams in”.

We don’t put a W to a team that should have won a game, do we?

So, team like Penn State that won Big Ten two years ago should have got into the playoffs instead of Ohio State, no matter how much better Ohio State passed the eye tests.

Yup!***

No chance considering only one or two teams go undefeated every year. If Clemson does, there won't be enough other undefeateds to knock us out.

I know there were at least 2 instances of 3 undefeateds in

the BCS era.

And all three would have had to play a conference

championship game today unless they are in the big12 or ND and get a bye. If all three remained undefeated after winning another game in a conference championship, then all three would be in the playoffs even if an SEC team had only one loss.

After this week, that is 100% true. 13-0 Clemson is in.***

OSU D sucks, GA may get in before them?

Posted: Oct 7, 2018 12:37 PM

OSU may get beat by Michigan this year, who has better D, and improving O.

Silly to even discuss it. No matter how much the ESECPN loudmouths want to run down the ACC, the fact is the SEC is Bamer and Georgia, and then a couple of teams that are decent but not elite like TA&M, KY and LSU, and then the rest are also garbage. Remember in Georgia's best scenario they will be playing Bamer, how do you think that will end up? OSU still has to play Michigan and likely Wisconsin in the Champ game. If Clemson wins through, having won a fourth straight championship, having been to three straight playoffs and won the Natty once, if Clemson is not in the playoffs the NCAA needs to burned down.
