What is the greatest gamecock epic fail you have ever seen?

Mar 10, 2017, 10:49 AM

Either in person or on television? There are so many !

Here are my favorites.

1. 63-17. Tommy let the Tigers feast for 60 minutes !

2. Losing to Navy. Ohhhh noooo ! We suck again !

3. 56-7. Dabo shows mercy.

4. Losing to Citadel......twice !

5. 0-11. Enough said !

the 1984 upset by Navy, and it's not even close...

Mar 12, 2017, 9:02 PM

Clemson had won the nat'l title in 1981, and this was "their turn". They were 9-0 and ranked #2 in the nation, and only had to beat lowly Navy to get an Orange Bowl invite and play for the nat'l title. Navy was 3-5-1 and decimated by injuries, including their star RB Napoleon McCallum, a two time All American. In other words, SCAR was expected to blow them out. In fact, SCAR was so sure they were playing for the nat'l title in the Orange Bowl, they turned down an invite to the Sugar Bowl earlier that week.

Not only did they not blow out injury-riddled Navy, they didn't even lose close. NAVY BLEW THEM OUT. Navy was up 38-7 before SCAR scored a couple of meaningless TDs late to make it 38-21.

Everything went down the tubes that day. No major bowl bid, no nat'l title shot... nothing. They ended up losing in the Gator Bowl...
