I once had a good customer and great friend in Fairmont, NC named Charlie Ray Ashley. Charlie Ray was an exceptional cook . . . One day while sharing a recipe with another gentleman he stopped after telling him how much onions to put into the pot . . . The gentleman quire, "You put onions in this dish?" . . . To which Charlie replied without even a glimmer of a smile, "Sir, you put onions in everything . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . except banana pudding."

Thanks for the remembrance!!! . . . and it's accompanying smile.

My late wife loved to put onions in many of her recipes. (and I never complained) One day I told her she was the only person I knew who, when they went to the grocery store, bought five pounds of potatoes and ten pounds of onions.
