The one question unanswered is

Unless I missed it, is Clemson's #1 ranked defense came against offenses that are ranked better, or worse, than Stanford. Stanford certainly wasn't impressive this year, whatsoever. If NC State...'Cuse...A&M...(who else) are on par with or better than Stanford, then ND's defensive rating is inflated. What I do know is Clemson's defense has been nauseatingly judged by the A&M (talk about a team/QB with a horseshoe) and Coot games. Unless I'm mistaken, the Wolfpack came in with a higher rated QB and WR's on par with ND's size.

Sometimes, it's not what's written that should be evaluated, but what's left unsaid. The 'unsaid' resonates with me...loudly. It also lends credence to the spread. Just sayin'.
