The notion that we can know who the best 4 teams are, or

Dec 2, 2018, 1:26 PM

even ultimately one "best" team, is totally bogus, and is THE problem. Instead, the goal should be to have an ultimate CHAMPION, who won that title through a process of elimination, determined entirely on the field, with all subjectivity removed. "Best" is and always will be 100% subjective, even after a champion is crowned, no matter how many people agree, no matter how overwhelming the consensus.

There should be no committee, no subjectivity, no pursuit to find the best. Instead, we should pursue a Champion, a Champion that gets there by a clear, simple, set of objective criteria.

Having said all of that, what we have now is a vast improvement over the old BCS system, and of course much better than the days of co-champions, based on different polls. College football is a great thing and is in a good place right now, but there is still need for improvement.
