So, the OB had over 11 million viewers and the Citrus bowl

Jan 6, 2014, 5:06 PM

had a little over a million, yet the Cootie on the radio said there was no difference in a BCS Bowl and the Citrus or the Cotton. That be funny.Ignorant bunch they are.

Those 11 million viewers nationwide know that there's only one BCS winner in the State of South Carolina.Wasn't Slurriers post game only broadcast on ESPN3 ? I guess a couple of thousand heard him talk about State Championships.

Orange. Capital One is a good 2nd tier bowl game, but pales in comparison to the history of the Cotton and Orange Bowl.

The great Irony of this is...

Jan 6, 2014, 5:10 PM

Stevil used to revel in making fun of Tennessee for playing in the Citrus Bowl with his famous "you can't spell Citrus without UT" quote. Now his own program is relegated to this bowl in consecutive seasons...thanks largely to an inexplicable loss to an unranked and bowl-less UT TEAM!

You can't spell Citrus without USC.

Cotton is 2nd tier bowl now also but was once first tier.***

been a top tier bowl. There was a period of time where the Cotton wasn't as good as it used to be, but over the past few years it has gotten back to it's old status.

Isn't the Cotton Bowl going to be in the playoff rotation?

That'd be next, this year they're 2nd tier.***

Like '39-'40.......CU 6 - BC 3 ....our 1st of 7 major bowls!

4 - 3 in major bowls......right?

More viewers, bigger payout,

Jan 6, 2014, 5:14 PM

being prime time with only the Cotton Bowl as competition while the Coots played at 1 with 2 other SEC bowls being played around that time. Coots are delusional if they believe BCS bowls don't make a difference

putting away a team that had trouble with the concept of the forward pass. The Capital One, Gator, and Outback Bowl were the 3 most boring bowls to watch this bowl season.

Wisconsin took Ohio state to the final seconds in Columbus... they were pretty much even teams

Re: So, the OB had over 11 million viewers and the Citrus bowl

Jan 6, 2014, 5:26 PM

I can't find a ratings number for the Cap One bowl but it will be far greater than a million. UGA / Nebraska drew around 10 million and USC/Nebraska drew around 5 million. I expect USC/Wisconsin probably drew worse than either of those but certainly well over 1 million. Either way, any arguing that the Cap One is a prestigious as the Orange Bowl is plain foolish, (btw - that ratings difference between UGA and USC against a common opponent shows the real reason they don't get asked to big bowl games).

Someone here posted a link the otherday that the ratings

Jan 6, 2014, 5:57 PM

were down 70%-80% from last year's Cap(6-7 mil) One Bowl which would be about 1.2 mil. I'll look for the link.

Amazing since coot bowl was on ABC (over the air) and

Jan 6, 2014, 6:57 PM

ours was on ESPN (cable). It is really hard for cable to draw more than over the air no matter how much more prestige the cable show has. And for the know-it-alls, I know that ESPN and ABC are under the same ownership umbrella. That doesn't change anything regarding cable numbers vs air numbers.
