The good guy with a gun finally showed up

Dec 30, 2019, 10:37 AM

Two people were killed but there could have been a dozen fatalities if not for people being armed in the service.

My church has increased security and I’ve been annoyed by it and thought it was unnecessary but I have a feeling will we see more of these now that these crazies know a lot of churches have live feeds.

Not sure how anybody can argue against concealed carry anymore.

I am pretty sure Boeing has killed far more people than church shooters this year. But go ahead buy more guns, that is ploy being peddled by the gun lobby.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Boeing is a mass murderer and should be outlawed!

Dec 30, 2019, 12:46 PM

Am i doing it right?

And there's the video that's going around from the other day where a guy comes in to rob a store and a customer pulls out a gun and shoots the armed robber. In the process, he also shoots the clerk.

That's a sorta good guy with a gun***

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Well, armed would-be victims have now killed 1 would-be mass shooter, and saved perhaps a dozen lives.

The mass shooters have killed 211 people...in 2019 alone.

Again, I don't have a big problem with concealed carry, but even in the Wild West folks had to check their guns with the sheriff upon entering town.

even a liberal like myself can see the virtue in an unfettered free market and a gun in every single man woman and child's hand. Darwin would agree with me here.

Just pray someone has one if you’re ever in a place and somebody starts shooting.

If he didn’t carry a gun he would have died in 1939.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What's the answer?

Dec 30, 2019, 10:27 PM [ in reply to IDK Quozz ]

And I'm not being sarcastic. If someone is bent on killing people, as we have seen recently, they may do it with a gun or a knife. Murder is already illegal. I suppose we can outlaw guns and machete's, but at this point, will that really solve anything?

And I'm not 100% sold that making guns harder for lawfully abiding folks to own really has any affect on those bent on being a bad actor. Criminals gonna criminal.

What's the answer?

Re: What's the answer?

Dec 30, 2019, 10:36 PM

there is no answer to people murdering one another. But it takes far more will and determination to get close to a person and take their life than it is to just pull a trigger. And not to sound like a broken record, but statistically you are far more likely to die from the barrel of a gun by owning one, accidents, suicides, etc...

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not going to look it up, so I'll just agree with that.

Dec 30, 2019, 10:51 PM

And I get the knee jerk reaction of outlawing guns. And I doubt most reasonable people have a problem with waiting periods or even background checks.

Beto O'rourke has quoted the figure of 390 millions guns are in private hands. If thats true, and I don't doubt it, outlawing them at this point wont change anything.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Beto sucks, and...

Dec 30, 2019, 10:55 PM

I have never been for outlawing guns. Believe or not enjoy shooting them for fun at the range, or out in the woods at things that don't bleed. I do not keep one in the house, nor do I believe that I will ever need one for protection.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wasn't really quoting his remarks as if he is any

authority. He's just the last person I've heard to mention any real numbers.

And kind of like 4wd on my truck, I'd rather have it and never need it, then need it and not have it.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

well he still sucks***

Dec 31, 2019, 1:26 PM [ in reply to I wasn't really quoting his remarks as if he is any ]

The idea of trying to somehow confiscate 390 million guns blows my mind. That's a whole lot of hard entries into domiciles where the occupants are, by definition, armed.

No way, no how. Not this boy. Somebody else can have that job. Methinks they won't have it long, and that position will be open regularly thereafter.

I dunno if this really needs to be said, but Beto was dumb.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i dont know his position on gun possession

Dec 31, 2019, 2:22 PM

Not sure if he is saying guns should be confiscated or not. If he is, that wont work, and that was my point. The only thing outlawing guns does is make a lot of innocent people criminals.

I dont have an answer. I don’t think there is a practical one.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you should not own a gun

Dec 31, 2019, 4:50 AM [ in reply to Re: What's the answer? ]
