The foul strategy was horrible because each time it ate away

At the differential so they ended up being able to hold for effectively the last shot. The initial possession had a sizable differential and we were guaranteed a quality possession. Sorry, bad coaching no way around it.

What exactly was the foul strategy?

I don't think we were trying to foul. NC State players fell/tripped 3 times in the last 30 seconds and got a foul called each time. Terrible officiating. On the last shooting foul you can see the ref in the replay wait until the shot is missed before he calls the foul. Whatever happened to "just let them play" in the last minute?
