The font(text) on the re-designed ClemsonTigers.com is HORRIBLE!

I guess they no longer teach website design at Clemson. It's hard to read. They need to look at what the rest of the interweb is doing. definitely not industry standard.
Seeing that I sent an email via their contact list last week and got Zero response, I thought I would bring it to Tnet too see what everyone thinks about the new font.

Do you see how thin that font is. This has to be Batsons fault that #### looks weak.

This is the same font that is used in the end zones and

around home plate. I don't like it either. It seems to be a variation of block lettering which is classic old-school. Someone posted on here a few weeks back that all the athletic teams would be using this font.

New EndZone font is AWESOME but not what he's talking about.

He's talking about the thin font used for the content (the text in the articles, calendar, lists, etc.)

I'm confused, are you talking about the logo?

It's white, might be hard to see.
The actual font looks to be Arial, that's a pretty standard sans-serif font.

looks like it's New Cycle

https://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/News+Cycle
News Cycle is a realist, sans-serif typeface based primarily on a revival of the 1908-era News Gothic, the stalwart newspaper face from American Type Founders (ATF). Like News Gothic, it is designed for clarity and readability in large blocks of copy, but to still look good in headline-sizes at the top of the page. It also extends News Gothic to better cover more of the world's orthographies, starting with Eastern European and African languages, and soon Greek and Cyrillic alphabets as well.
Thus should not be used in regular text= web design Fail

that place is always a train wreck. If Philpot can not run a website, then Dan Radakovich needs to ban him from BBall broadcasts. Make it happen.

The problem is, they're probably locked into using whatever CMS platform they're under contract with and the people designing/administrating the thing believe so strongly that it's a piece of crap that this may have been the extent of what they could do without a complete overhaul.
I've done it a million times with eCommerce sites. "Oh, you want this ZenCart site you installed in 2005 to look sleek and modern without a complete overhaul? Okay, let's see what we can patch up."
There are a lot of things lacking.

The the font bad, or it the typeface? Do you not like the selection of type or do you not like the combination of weight and style that's employed throughout the document?
It's important.

The same typeface is used throughout the content of the web pages, i.e. article title, article, latest news, blog, the Clemson vault, calendar, etc.
example: http://www.clemsontigers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=28500&ATCLID=209605411
#Clemson Social Media (bottom of main page) is using a readable font
The text in the article is not the correct font (New Cycle - see above ) to use in the main text of the page i.e. sentence. paragraph, etc. It's fine for larger print, but not for smaller print.
Did that answer your question?

Yeah, they could have stuck with news cycle in all caps for the headings, but even the basic Georgia would look a lot better in the body copy.
