This is brutal. Hate it for Brownell, just isn't working out. Time for a new vision and fresh start.

Money that go to a more worthy Clemson cause.

I guess the question is how much money will we lose by not ripping this bandaid off quickly. Cause it has to come off.

If we fire him, we will have payed him $1.7 million for this

year and we will owe him $3.5 million for firing him. That's a total of $5.2 million dollars.
That's how it works.

A) he's already been paid most of his salary for the 2016-17 season.
B) the buyout for the 2017-18 season is $3 million, not $3.5 million. You pay the buyout to avoid the remaining salary on his contract which totals $5.7 million through the 2019-2020 season.
So no, he will not "make $5.2 million in the next month." Even the buyout will be paid over time. So basically nothing in your original assertion is true.

I'm not splitting hairs - it's not what you said. You're changing it now. $1.7 million is already spent so is completely irrelevant to any discussion of the financial consequences of releasing him. And I'm not wrong about the buyout - the buyout is for the corresponding season. To buyout this season would have been $3.5. To buyout 17-18 is $3. I don't know why so many people on here struggle with this. From the article you link d:
2014 - 15 $ 1.55 $ 5.00 $ 1.50 2015 - 16 $ 1.65 $ 5.00 $ 1.50 2016 - 17 $ 1.70 $ 3.50 $ 1.00 2017 - 18 $ 1.80 $ 3.00 $ 0.90 2018 - 19 $ 1.90 $ 3.00 $ 0.50 2019 - 20 $ 2.00 $ -
$3.5 was for 16-17 $3 is the buyout if he is terminated between 17-19 The lack of a buyout in 2019-20 is a misnomer - he is due his full salary of $2 million. No negotiated buyout doesn't mean he doesn't get paid. To interpret it any other way makes no sense. You wouldn't pay a $3 million buyout at the end of 18-19 to pay out a contract with a full face value of only $2 million left.

Confirmed by the fact(s) that the tournament committee thought it was meaningless as well.
For some reason, the tournament committees loved them some OP accomplishments, but are not at all fond of BB's.

Come on man. You can't be serious in wanting to keep him. Forget acc record and look at these late game situations. It's not just happening once or twice. It's happened multiple times this season.

You prove over and over that you are the dumbest poster on this entire board and that is a significant accomplishment. Shyatt has two NCAA championship rings as an assistant to Billy Donovan - fairly objectively considered one of the best ever. Loved enough by Wyoming to be hired twice. And currently working in the NBA for the Mavericks - one of the better franchises in the league. No, it didn't work here but he only got 5 seasons to Brownell's 7. Made an NIT final and beat the number #1 team in the country. It takes an incredible amount of cognitive dissonance to praise Brownell yet bash Shyatt.

All you have to do is look at the last 30 seconds of both halves of last night's game. I fully support Clemson, the team, and the players. But Brownell has to go.
