Last time I remember it not happening was with David Beasley and that was because he was dead set against a lottery and Jim Hodges was voted in for one term only for that reason alone.

He wanted it down. He was also anti-video poker which had an extremely powerful lobby. Hodges just happened to be pro-lottery which brought him votes but once the flag issue blew up Beasley was done.

I do miss the poker machines. I would go to a strip club in Greenville called Diamonds back in the 90’s cause they had a very well paying blackjack machine in the back.
