The SEC protecting SEC teams with favorable bowl

Nov 19, 2014, 11:13 AM

match ups, again. Texas A & M not wanting to play Texas. Yet, they crow about how tough they are. Just look at OOC schedules of Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama this year.

I thought the bowls picked, not the conference

Nov 19, 2014, 11:16 AM

That's weird.

Wow, that's dirty

Nothing shocks me anymore, though.

The ACC implemented the same procedure this year. Now that the power 5 have the power a lot of the decisions are made by the conferences.

Re: Paring, Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss against each other

Nov 19, 2014, 11:16 AM

proves nothing after each has played 4 or 5 patsies.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I still cannot understand the reasoning ...

Nov 19, 2014, 11:26 AM

for TAMU and UT to not play each other. If UF, UGA, USC and UK can do it fromthe SEC (play OOC rival) then why cant TAMU? Sames goes for KU-Mizzou in basketball.....no reason whatsoever for them not to play every year still.

Those teams (Bama, AU, UM) playing bad OOC oppenents isnt an issue for me. YOu need guaranteed wins and games to play your backups. THey all play aphysical enough conference schedule that they do not need to load their scheudle with OOC teams just to appease the masses that hate them regardless of what they do. For the record though, every one of those teams played at least on qualify OOC team. WVU, K-State and Boise are all pretty good football teams.

Re: If you are going to beat your chest about something then

Nov 19, 2014, 11:36 AM

don't schedule PC, Southern Miss., Western Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Samford, etc.

Re: If you are going to beat your chest about something then

Nov 19, 2014, 12:32 PM

Or schools like Maine, SC St, Troy, Elon, Tulane, The Citadel, Wofford, etc..

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

seeing how Clemson has had one Power 5 OOC not named SC

Nov 19, 2014, 12:44 PM

since 2007 your argument is invalid.

It's not that they can't, it's that A&M hates Texas and is

Nov 19, 2014, 12:52 PM [ in reply to I still cannot understand the reasoning ... ]

flat out refusing to play them. Period.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's actually the other way around

Nov 19, 2014, 1:20 PM

Texas quit playing A&M.

I think A&M wants to play UT, but UT is telling them to eff-off after A&M ran to the SEC when they didn't get their way with the whole Longhorn Network thing.

The way I see it, both were wrong. UT was the bully and A&M was the whiny little kid that took his ball and stomped off after getting beat...

Now, UT's refusal to play them is their attempt to bullly A&M into crawling back to the Big12, which in the end is where A&M belongs.

You can throw Miss St and aTm in that boat too***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would anyone be afraid of playing Texas this

Nov 19, 2014, 12:51 PM

year? I don't think that is the motivation here.
