The SEC network

Aug 27, 2014, 8:27 PM

What a waste if the only thing they have to broadcast is the life of a ball sack. I rather watch paint dry!

How about paint drying onto a ball sack ? That might be something .

Think the coots will be mad when he retires knowing that he won more championships at duke than he did in. Columbia?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I love the Spurrier-Duke 1989 ACC Championship myth

Aug 27, 2014, 8:56 PM

Duke was officially Co-Champs with UVA (both had 6-1 records)

However:

UVA went 10-3 and beat Duke 49-28 (Duke's only loss)
UVA's only ACC loss was to Clemson 34-20. Also lost to Notre Dame (in a Kick-Off Classic). UVA went to the Citrus Bowl, where the ACC Champ went during that era. Lost to Illinois 31-21.

Duke went 8-4 and went to the All-American Bowl in Birmingham (yeah) and got beat 49-21 by Texas Tech. Is THAT where a true ACC Champion goes? Heck No.

Clemson went 10-2, losing inexplicably to Duke and GT.
Beat WVU in the Gator Bowl 27-7.

Nice LEGEND you have created there, Probation Steve.

Not a myth

Aug 27, 2014, 9:29 PM

Duke and UVA co own the championship.

YOu hear about Duke winning it because it was Duke- and they weren't supposed to win conference titles- but they did.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

oh, I'm sure it'll be noted on that statue you build

Aug 27, 2014, 9:38 PM

ACC Champ, not ACC Co-Champ - you gotta claim every little straw you can to put on that plaque.

Chickens defending Duke accomplishments....tremendous.

Sorta like you coots plaster "1969 ACC Champions" in your stadium. You weren't supposed to win anything either, but a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

And how is the ACC Network coming along? Oh wait...

SEC SEC SEC who cares I pull for Clemson not the ACC. Last time I looked every Tiger game has been on TV for many years.

A ring for every finger on one hand! That's fantastic!

I wish we had five of those for us. I guess we will just
have to settle for a BCS win. Darn....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and still no championships or bowl wins of note

you Chickens define the word "futility".

I'll give you a TU, Scooter, as you just made me literally lol. I'll have to google futility to see if the gamehens pop up. I've always thought that if you googled mediocrity a block c w/ a garbled mess of red feathers would be the first image. Quite appropriate for either word.....

Yes, we are your national title game every year***

I must have hit pretty close to the mark to get a response like that.

Unlike you coots, we don't need to ride the coattails of our conference. We get hardware on our own.

That was a great win versus a Major Harris led Mountaineer team. Danny's last game at Clemson and before we got hit with a year probation that June. I'll leave the Ken Hatfield discussion for a later day.

why watch it?

Re: The SEC network

Aug 27, 2014, 10:32 PM

Supposedly, in a few years it will generate over 40 million a year to conference schools, which is a major reason for the ACC network to get on board quickly as well, the ACC will undoubtedly use the success of this network (over 90 million subscribers) to negotiate their deal. A ton of money to be made with these networks, almost hard to believe how much schools can make from these deals.
