Probably not a great one to hold, but CU already had the ACC record for most invitations to the NIT - - 16. We extended our own record Sunday - now it's 17.

Another tidbit that speaks pretty loudly: in the early 2000-teens, CBS signed an 11-year deal to broadcast the NCAA Tourney for $6.2 BILLION. About the same year, ESPN signed a 13-year deal to televise the NIT - for $500-MILLION (less than 1/12th the money per year CBS pays for the NCAA).

Turner Broadcasting through 2032 and starting in 2024 will pay the NCAA 1.1 billion per year.


The way the NCAA handles the money from this contract is why there will never be a Div.1 NCAA college football playoff. The P5 conferences own and operate the college football playoffs outside the NCAA and retain all revenues. In the current NCAA basketball tournament contract the NCAA will hold all cash payments to the conferences for for 5, so the payouts for 2019 will occur in 2024, that’s a lot of interest if the NCAA gets to keep.
