The 6 Team Solution that's fair and preserves regular season

5 'Power 5' champs + 1 'at large'. Win your conference and you're guaranteed a spot.
Seed the top 5 teams by Vegas odds (by the people who actually know what they're talking about way more than any committee or talking heads).
Next highest ranked team -or- an undefeated G5 team gets the 6th seed, at large bid. Gives the G5 a fighting chance... be ranked 6th, or go undefeated.
Top 2 seeds get byes. Not a top 2 team? Too bad. You're still in the playoff.
3-vs-6 and 4-vs-5 play at higher seed's home field. Some awesome unconventional match ups.
Proceed to 1-vs-3/6 and 2-vs-4/5, then champ game. Maintains current bowl rotation.

Does that "1 at large" have to play a conference championship, or do they get a break because they are Notre Dame( reference last season and a 12-0 Notre Dame which only had to play 12 games). It seems a little unfair to me,don't you think?

So long as that +1 is the best G5 team and not another eSECpn team.
They have their chance. If they can’t win their conference, or even their division, why should they get another chance? They know what’s at stake in those games. Make them count.

So an sec team gets a bye every year. This year if everyone wins out, we play an extra game while o31o state and LSU have more time to game plan and rest players. Right, sounds good.

Why not just pick 5 and have a play in game for bottom two week after conference championship games to determine who is 4th.

No playoff scenario should ever include byes. This isn't the NFL...and teams don't play cross-over games enough to warrant giving anyone a pass. The 'eye test' is fool's gold, more often than not. Ain't that right, Bama?

I agree that the winner of each conference championship should get in. Enough with the biased and agenda driven cfp committee. This whole pick the four best teams is so subjective. Conference Championships matter. Just my opinion.

oh good grief. if there's one thing the playoff system has demonstrated, it's that there are not actually four competitive teams available for this thing. the first two games are always blowouts.
