point spread out of all of the boards, then that's our line. Averages don't matter. Somebody asked what the line was on our game the other day and I said OSU was favored by -2.5. A Coot interjected it was OSU by -3 even though only one sports book had that number.

That's the money line

A positive number is the amount of cash you win if you bet $100. A negative number is the amount of cash you have to pay to win $100.

For instance, 5 dimes has:
Clemson +107
OSU -117

So if you bet $100 on Clemson and won, you'd win $107. And if you bet $117 on OSU and won, you'd win $100.

(If you bet $100 on OSU, you'd make $85.47 if you won.)

In trying to hedge their bets, this must mean that these oddsmakers think that Ohio State has about a 55% chance of beating Clemson.
