First day back at work after surgery...

went to the doc yesterday to get staples removed and got a good report.
Pathology report showed clear cell renal cell carcinoma, which is the most common kind of kidney cancer and pretty much what I was expecting. Report was good...showed clear edges, nothing in the lymph node that was also removed and no signs it had spread anywhere else. Plan is to have close monitoring (x-rays and CT scan) every 4 months for 1 year, then every 6 months, then every year going forward.
Thanks for the many kind notes and texts over the last many weeks.

and blood clots...was a pretty dramatic indication. Until that, didn't have any symptoms I recognized. After they found the tumor, I was having flank pain (pain where your kidney is) and I recognized that pain as something I had had before, but not nearly as intense. Had previously chalked it up to typical getting old aches and pains because it was very mild, short lasting, and infrequent.
I will likely now be a hypochondriac on minor aches and pains.
