Church cancellations are next

Mar 12, 2020, 1:59 PM

I'm waiting on the Church Cancellations to start now! You can't work, can't travel, can't go to school, can't go to work, can't go to Church, can't take a descent crapp. Next they'll tell me I can't go to my Mom's. Either one of two (2) things will happen next. They'll be a hell of a lot more divorces or a lot more pregnant women!

We are doing all we can to help people be careful and considerate as they come to worship. Still might do some livestream for our older or sick members

Mar 12, 2020, 2:34 PM

authority to do this, you know, separation of church and state? We'll be open. I'm not going to have a lost person coming looking for answers and hope and find the doors shut. 2 Tim 1:7

The Govt cant close churches. Churches should be prudent and use good judgment. I will stay home Sunday.

Several states are limiting attendance numbers

Mar 12, 2020, 11:12 PM

beginning this weekend. If we're limited in that way we can either cancel, have multiple services, or turn people away. We'll have someone at church, even if it's just me. We'll livestream and be there in case anyone wants to talk about things. Me and my assistant are in agreement about this. We dont want any lost person looking for answers and hope to find the doors closed

Times like this people should turn back to God. Its time for the lost to come home.

Mar 12, 2020, 11:14 PM [ in reply to Re: Does the government have the constitutional ]

Government can’t ban services or forbid free assembly unless a prevailing health risk exists.

They can always regulate assembly according to certain factors, like size, noise, traffic, fire egress, etc.
They just choose not to fight that battle. So far.

Not really. I believe there are many more tares than wheat in church anyway.

Re: This will make the devil happy.

Mar 12, 2020, 11:06 PM

So where is the wheat?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: This will make the devil happy.

Mar 12, 2020, 11:32 PM

Perhaps you have to be wheat before you can spot the wheat. Maybe. You'd have to ask a higher power to help you on this one. :)

Here's one for you:
After getting hit by lightning, I could literally see halos over certain people in church, and it was always the same people (one was our pastor's wife, but not him). Weird huh. That only lasted a few months until I went back to work. And shaking certain people's hands caused me to feel a cold, dark chill run through my body, which caused me to become terrified to shake people's hands. That too went away once I returned to the work force. I could spot the wheat for a couple of months. :)

Re: Tares

Mar 13, 2020, 7:00 AM

Interesting answer.

My question was not intended as snark toward the church, but possibly toward the poster who said "I believe there are more tares than wheat IN THE CHURCH."

I agree that the tares are there, in spite of our efforts to prevent it and reach them. Even persecution does not prevent it. But God reserves the right to do the separating. We just need to be faithful with the understanding of why some of our peers around us aren't.

Some are obedient but don't see things the way we do; some are just plain carnal and disobedient; some are lost.

Staying home during a coronavirus outbreak doesn't indicate any of the above.

So that's where your name Orange Lightning originated? That's way more interesting than most of the topics we've addressed the last few days!

I hear from family members that all Methodist churches in NC are closed for a couple of weeks. Hopefully most of the members can and will connect to online or televised services from other areas or other denominations while their doors are shut.

Mar 12, 2020, 2:51 PM

As for now,
- no passing of offering plate
- no handshakes during greeting (hugging discouraged as well)
- no attendance if you are sick (this should be at ALL times) or exposed to someone diagnosed
- optional attendance for those who are at risk (respiratory issues, weakened immune system, elderly, etc)
- heightened cleaning procedure with more hand sanitizer stations.
- check in before working with children
- plan in case we are asked to not assemble

I believe the "optional" means they can go fishing or to the golf course without having a guilty feeling about missing church.
