Huge guts. Yes it really is and from a coaching standpoint, you better get it because the odds of getting points from an opponents 9 yard line is almost 90%.

However the odds of converting 4 and 1 is about 87%.

The odds of scoring when you get the ball at the opponents 40 are about 66%.

If you convert that first down and even force the opponent back even 10 yards force the odds of scoring almost in half.

So, if you have a bad punter and a good rushing game, then go for it because in a close game. Reducing someones odds of scoring from 66% down to 35% is a huge deal.

Its not statistically stupid.

Unless of course you dont get it. Ha ha.
