If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

Good teams don"t lose to Wake. Wake sucks.

There are eight teams that have a greater suck than Weak Florist over the last year.

Wake failed twice from the 1-yard line, and needed 4 tries to get 1 yard for their final TD. That sucks IMO. It's as bad as Bama trying to score against CLEMSON.

Wake should have tried a fake FG. I've heard that works most times.

not really

Aug 31, 2019, 7:12 AM

goal line situations really favor the treat with better line play and the mormon schools (Utah, BYU, Utah ST) generally have very powerful lines due to the island influence. Bottom line is that Wake won the game.

If I remember correctly it took us a couple tries last year to punch one in on the gamecocks from the one. Did we suck?

Not sure if a Power 5 team squeaking by a Mountain West team is a huge win.

Must be that extra 6K seat stadium capacity

Aug 31, 2019, 7:23 AM

That puts Wake football on the P5 fast track.

Maybe not huge but it was a good win. Utah St was one of the

best G5 teams last year. They went 11-2 and their 2 losses were by 7 at Mich St and by 11 at Boise. Their QB is going to get drafted next year - potentially in the first 3 rounds.

Utah state is a quality win for wake imo 11-2 last year***

ACC teams, generally speaking, have found ways to lose non-conference games early and often, including games like this one.
Wake won it...good for them.
I’m not a ‘root for the conference’ guy, but one of the reasons the ACC gets tagged with the weak label is when they lose non-conference games. Especially early...even if they rebound later, it’s hard to get that perception changed.
And as the OP said, Utah St. has been good recently. Good for Wake.

Yep. Was glad to see them pull it out. I’ve always thought of Clawson as one of the good ones.

In fact, imo the acc has the best group of coaches hands down of any p5 conference and it’s not even close...

Clawson is a darn good coach and has built a little niche there at Wake, much like Cutcliffe at Duke. what do they both have in common? They were both good OCs at Tennessee who have zero interest in putting on the sherbery orange. Good job Wake!

Actually one of the most entertaining of all the start-up games this season.

That delayed "Who's got the ball?" thing Wake does is pretty effective - but not in goal line situations. I don't understand trying to use it there.
