Thank you, Jimbo

I came in from yardwork, and my wife was watching gameday, about in tears. I thought, "Hey, it's going to be a rough game, but it's just a game."

Then I saw what it was about.

Jimbo Fisher was being open and candid about his son's blood disorder.
My son has HLH (hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis). He nearly died before being diagnosed (it's rare and mimics a lot of things). He's a survivor, in remission, and the same age as Jimbo's son. We go day to day, and make sure he's living life, much like Jimbo's family is doing.

I am so grateful we live near a hospital that has up-to-date hematological specialists (Bi-Lo Children's in Greenville). Many others are not so fortunate.

I am also so thankful for people like Jimbo who take the time, fight back the tears, and raise awareness of rare blood disorders.
Because some disorders like Fanconi's anemia and HLH manifest themselves with flu-like symptoms, they often go undiagnosed and are often fatal.

For Jimbo to be able to discuss it without breaking down (I couldn't) makes him a strong man. He probably got thousands of people thinking about it today, and is raising funding for research that really make a difference.

Thanks, Jimbo. You're saving lives by raising awareness. Also, thank you blood and marrow donors. You literally saved the life of my little man.

God bless you, and go tigers!

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

I saw that segment on ESPN and bet
