I would have though the Syracuse punter, Sterling Hofrichter, was a close second. Turns out, he 14th in the nation behind punters from Georgia State, Colorado State, Tulsa, UNLV, Ohio, Florida International, and Eastern Michigan.

Spiers is 72nd.

How is it that schools like Georgia State, Colorado State, Tulsa, UNLV, Ohio, Florida International, and Eastern Michigan can find and attract top rated punters and we can't.

I'm with you on the Syracuse punter. I'm pretty sure people in the top deck were actually looking UP to follow some of his punts.

Said Hofrichter hadn't had a punt returned all season. With a 5 second hang time, I'd suspect not. He not boot as far as Mann, but his net is nothing to sneeze at. The NFL will take both of them, no worries there.
