Sure. He's not biased at all. He is also good enough evaluator of talent that he thought he should leave early to go pro. Riiiiiiiight

Only Hall and Blossomgame would've gotten minutes

on the 07-08 team IMO. Hall could've spelled Stitt and Blossomgame probably could've come off the bench for Rivers or Booker depending on what kind of lineup we had on the floor. The problem though is that we were already pretty deep at F, and we used KCs outside shooting at SF to spread the floor. We don't have anyone on this current them that could play that roll knocking down corner 3's and slashing when the D overplayed. Then at PF we had Booker and Mays depending on the lineup on the floor. I think we often played Mays at C with Booker at PF despite Mays being more of a true PF. When Sykes would come in at C we could play Mays or Booker at PF. And then we also had Sam Perry that would come in as a super high energy guy off the bench. There's just not a ton of minutes to go around for forwards on that team.
If i could add one player to the 07-08 team it would've been Hall. We were thin at PG that year and Hammonds had to play it for awhile when Stitt got injured. Blossomgame is a nice player that would've seen the floor some but that wasn't a position of need that season.
We weren't quite as deep the following season so i think a guy like Roper would've gotten minutes with Hammonds gone, and probably Grantham too. Interestingly enough, Hall probably would've gotten a lot less minutes that year with the arrival of Young who shot 39% from 3 and had a 3-1 A/T ratio off the bench as a freshman.

I don't think Ray Sikes was any better than Nnoko. Blossomgame and Grantham probably both would've played a lot of minutes on Oglesby's team, although they would've had to split time with Booker. I don't think a Jerai Grant as a SO was anywhere near as good as Blossomgame (Bgame averaged 13 points as a SO, Grant averaged 4), and I don't know that Tanner Smith was any better than Grantham (Grantham certainly has better size for a 3).

Who needs a guy who shot close to 40% from 3 point range his 2 years here? No way a team that shot under 30% from there could ever need a guy who CAN shoot from 3 point range. Sure, his attitude and defense sucked, but he can shoot (Something no one on this team seems capable of doing from outside). We DESPERATELY needed someone like him this season.

Grantham, Blossomgame, and Nnoko are all better than any of the front court players on that team with the exception of Trevor Booker. They would all get major minutes.

No. Mays was athletic but the fellow could rarely make his first shot. Thatbisbwhy he rebounded with abandon. Mays had not real post up offense skills and his jumpers were not consisten . Mays was epitome of OPs athlete vs bball player.

We don't have anybody as it is that does everything well,
Mar 11, 2015, 3:43 PM

they all have at least one glaring weakness. T.O. could dribble and pass better than half of our current players, plus he could shoot and SCORE POINTS - the one single thing that NOBODY else on our team could do. So what if he wasn't great on defense (even though he was adequate), we needed offense, and he could have provided it.
He had a weakness or two, like every other player we have, but he had a strength that nobody else had.

much on this team, they would just stick a bigger guy on him and that would be that...No Booker to DT in the post, no KC to worry about...Just lock down the guy who can't create his own offense...He would have been totally exposed

"T.O. could dribble and pass better than half of our current players, plus he could shoot and SCORE POINTS"
TO was a career 0.378 shooter. Excluding Josh Smith, Nnoko, and Djitte, who all naturally have a higher FG%'s than Oglesby, there's Jaron Blossomgame, Grantham, Hall, and even Harrison are equal to or better % shooters than Oglesby.
Oglesby had 1.5 career assists per game. Grantham (freshman) has that many from a non-guard spot, and Hall, Roper, and Harrison all have equal to or better assists per game.
And like you admitted, Oglesby was a liability on defense.
Oglesby was okay. That's all.
It may have been discussed already, but what this team needs is a true PG. Put one of those on this years team, and the NIT is a breeze and we likely make it tot he big dance.

Will be the first time TO plays defense. I'm not sure he would play on a BB team. Personally, if I'm going to go for a mad bomber, I like Devoe's upside way more than I like TO's.

it was at home and State was milking a huge lead. Oglesby did it fairly consistently, home and away. I just think it's a bit much to say right now he has more upside than Oglesby, Devoe seems pretty lost at times on both ends of the floor. Would love to see him come on though.

would have played...just as a start? Rod Hall would have played as well. Hell, it's not like he put up that many more points that Harrison, and Harrison is twice the defender TO ever dreamed about being.

When's the last time we've played a game and the results got you ungodly pumped up? Listen to the key phrase from the commentator "I KNOW ONE TEAM STAMPED THEIR TICKET TONIGHT"

I take that back Hall would have made a good practice team player. You think he wouls have played with Stitt and Young on the team?
I'll be waiting with the crickets

Not a great source. I guarantee you every player on the roster plays defense better than Oglesby.

He's right.
More specifically our post/interior game. It's embarassing compared to Mays, Booker, and Grant era

Other than Booker I probably take Grantham, Blossomgame and Nnoko over Grant (who magically improved under Brad Brownell) and Mays, who was good in transition, but really struggled in the half court.

You hate much? There's nobody on this team that can shoot the ball like he did.

Captain Clemson Cancer

His long range jumpers often led to the other team getting a wide open fast point bucket than 3 points for Clemson...PLUS the guy couldn't guard his own shadow. Jackazz still trying to prove his ignorance.
