Not bad

Jan 8, 2014, 3:52 PM

Especially since we don't offer African-American Studies or whatever.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I believe Clemson calls its program Pan African Studies***

Not top ten graduation rates in FBS. You don't seriously think all those SEC schools would be in there.

SCU's graduation rate is inaccurate...

Jan 8, 2014, 5:52 PM

or does that include the degrees they give to players who don't attend class

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This just highlights how stringent our academic standards

Jan 8, 2014, 6:57 PM

are, 35% of kids can't even graduate.

since the entrant requirements are the same.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Same as every other conference

Jan 8, 2014, 7:48 PM

except you know the whole fact that some players are admitted into places that Clemson doesnt allow in. Clemson and Scar DO NOT have the same entrance requirements. That is a fact kid.

The big one a few years ago was the WR who ended up going to UNC.

Jan 8, 2014, 11:33 PM

Us, SCar, FSU, etc. all of the same entrance requirements. Please prove me wrong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Please cite me a source for your "facts."

Jan 9, 2014, 8:46 AM

First off there is no "us" chicken boy you are fooling no one.

We have the Academic Review Board that reviews all incoming athletes and have told coaches in the past they could not offer a scholarship to certain athletes due to their academic history. The big time WR from UNC was the most public one.

If you were a Clemson fan you would remember that, but we both know you are not.

I'm just looking for a source. Something tangible.

Jan 9, 2014, 11:47 AM

Should be pretty easy if it's common knowledge that Clemson is tougher for athletes to get into.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Your assumption is incorrect, coot

Jan 8, 2014, 7:54 PM [ in reply to This just highlights how stringent our academic standards ]

Generally, higher graduation rates = better schools. For example, here are the 4-year colleges with the highest graduation rates:

1. Harvard
2. Yale
3. Notre Dame
4. Princeton
5. Brown

And the lowest (or, in your mind, those with the "most stringest academic standards"):

1. University of Phoenix
2. Western Governors University
3. University of Houston - DT
4. Int'l Academy of Design & Tech - Chicago
5. Texas Southern University

"stringest" should be "stringent"***

UCF is a commuter school--largest Univ. in Florida I think

Jan 8, 2014, 7:07 PM

Honestly, that makes it more impressive that the players are sticking around campus & taking care of business. I guess it helps not having a ton of distractions around at night.

Georgia State in Atlanta would be a good comparison as far as the commuter school & enrollment as it's the biggest in Georgia the last I heard when I lived nearby.

Re: UCF is a commuter school--largest Univ. in Florida I think

Jan 8, 2014, 7:45 PM

At UCF you're more likely to graduate as a football player than a student.

Re: The AP Top 10 reordered by graduation rate

Jan 8, 2014, 7:44 PM

Here's the top 10 by student graduation rate:

1.) Clemson - 82%
2.) Michigan State - 79%
3.) Florida State - 75%
4.) South Carolina - 72%
5.) Missouri - 71%
6.) Auburn - 68%
7.) Alabama - 67%
8.) Oregon - 67%
9.) Oklahoma - 66%
10.) UCF - 65%

UCF shouldn't even count since it's a commuter college...it's basically a glorified Community College.
