Someone besides Roth was going to have to win. Of course he's not pitching tonight or tomorrow. He was going to pitch one of the three games. If you don't win the first one, you don't even get a shot at the others. The bullpen is fully rested.

In elimination games, you pitch the best pitcher available! If it is your ace, then so be it. If you don't and you lose you will be questioned on why you didn't. If you do and win, you will be questioned on why you did.
I would much rather be questioned on why I did while I was preparing to play the next game.

uh - now TWO someone's besides Roth are going to have to beat Arky. One...maybe, but TWO...I doubt it.

They were looking at starting an unused pitcher.....Till they got the only rain cancelled game of the series...Freeing up their ace.
They may rub that horeshoe and bring rain the next 2 days till he's ready to go again.
They got more BS in them than a Christmas turkey.
