Talk of Dabo and Bama on the radio

What if Saban leaves after this year and Bama calls Dabo, will he leave? Can you see him turning that job down?

Johnson would/should be the next coach at Clemson. So, I wouldn't worry about it much.
My god what a nightmare that would be...

He will be revered at Clemson. At Alabama the best he can hope for is to meet their expectations. He will never exceed them and will constantly be looking over his shoulder - even if they win but it's not pretty. Even Saban said it's no longer fun to win there or something to that effect.

Ask these guys what it was like to follow a "legend"
Ray Perkins Bill Curry Mike DuBose Dennis Franchione Mike Shula Joe Kines
alum Stallings weathered the storm with an NC of his own, but even his 72% wpct didn't quiet the natives
I just don't get the feeling Dabo is gonna turn his baby over to anyone else...too much pride. CTB laid the foundation but this is Dabo's tower. Henry said it best last night when talking of Saban - "coach is ALL business", but Dabo? he's all family. Anyone so big on commitment and loyalty is a different cut of cloth.

Gene Stallings wasn't an Alabama alum. He went to Texas a@m. Played under bear Bryant.

Good Stuff. No doubt Albama will come calling at some point, and that he'd be #1 on their list.
Dabo knows how unrealistic the expectations are in Tuscaloosa, and is smart enough to know he'd he would have off the hook corruption behind the scenes from boosters, etc... That he could NEVER hope to control.
Dabo doesnt want any part of that mess. Now that he's built it, he can win championships just as easily here without the mess hed have to deal with there.
I dont see him leaving Clemson anytime soon.

Couldn't agree more:
1) No future in following a legend. 2) He'll have a statue of himself at Clemson if he stays, in Tuscaloosa he'll be driving by Saban's on his way to work every day. 3) Not many coaches have the relationship Dabo has with the AD and school President. 4) This is his baby and he's said time and again that we'll look back as this being the best decade in Tiger history - he knows what he's built and building, he ain't going anywhere anytime soon.

Seriously Coot, go back to your trailer.
Dabo would be "All Out" with any lame SEC coaching offers, even Alabama.

Isn't his contract good until 2021!? Why are we even talking about this like it's plausible!?

Well let's be honest, contract/buyout/etc or not...if he wanted to go to Bama and Bama wanted him they'd buy out whatever contract was in place.

If he goes to Bama then that's going to work out best for him and (us) Clemson.

Even if he eventually goes to Bama, you never want to follow the legend. Plus many of the Bama fans don't "appreciate" Dabo's style, so to speak. Think he's "below" them. Quite comical actually.

I don't think Dabo leaves, personally, but if he does, who

Do we go after? Do we promote from within? I'm thinking Elliott. I have been wondering if Dabo has been groomed for the Bama job, has he been grooming Elliott for the job. Or do we go externally? If so, who do we go for? Herman? Wouldn't that just beat all if we wound up getting him from Houston when the coots couldn't. But I think it would be Elliott.

I would give Elliot a shot. I think the recruiting would stay on par. Plus he's extremely intelligent.
