I suppose any further detail might breach confidentialy requirments but it would be interesting to know how many of these are actually getting sick and how many have reverted back to negative with antibodies.

Or how many have symptoms. I bet almost none of them have symptoms.

The media will push alarm using what ever number they can. Death rate & hospitalizations are the two major areas of concern from what I've been able to learn from real health experts. They made this thing political from the start & will continue to do so for as long as possible.

434 deaths in South Carolina due to automobile accidents in 2020 and climbing. My gosh, what are we going to do?

Obey traffic laws, not drive drunk, and wear a seatbelt?

Twice as many people have died of this hoax than car accidents. Is that comforting to you?

wash your hands, don't get in crowds and wear your mask.........
Just over 7% is not bad and better than the State at this point so it seems the athletic program is doing as good a job keeping it down as we can hope. Unfortunately as a State, we have now joined the Top 10 rankings - of total cases.
I won't even address the ignorant comment of calling this a hoax - read something other than TigerNet sometime if you can.

Just a guess, but since they said twice as many people had died of this hoax, you may need to recalibrate your sarcasm meter.

Need to stop driving past 11 pm that’ll do it***

Argue with me if you want to but there will be NO football or basketball this season because COVID is out of control. Just look at all the other countries that have controlled the spread of the virus by taking decisive actions. Meanwhile the goon in the White House pretends all is well which is the exact opposite of the truth....

Sad but true - I think its going to be the only answer the way all the rush to opening and general lack of common sense has backfired on everyone. I never ever thought I would say this but I have to agree with "ears" on this one. There really is only one reason to play and that is money. We know there won't be fans to any degree and we know there will be disruptions as positives mount from team to team. I and many others will GLADLY watch whatever is out there so I guess some losses will be recouped by TV revenue and I guess enough games of some sort can be played to crown some sort of mythical champion but how long will it before we see the inevitable death of a high profile player or coach somewhere?

That is the fear that I have. Young people are dying so the myth that young people are immune or can fight off the virus with no consequences is a dangerous path to take. We have 30+ football players who have tested positive and without a strong tracing program it's anyone's guess who is infected even if they are not showing any symptoms not to mention how many friends and family they may have infected. I've racked my brain by trying to talk myself out of the fact that sports cannot be played without severe risk(s). Additionally...until there is a viable vaccine, COVID 19 is likely to continue it's rampage unabated. We are all in this for the long haul, like it or not....

NOBODY has said that young people are immune from the coronavirus. Young people have shown a lower incidence of contracting the virus, and much lower hospitalization and death rates. As of July 4th (the latest figure transferred to their table) there had been only 142 deaths in the 15-24 age bracket according to the CDC and 171 total, 24 and under.

"The goon in the White House" passed the responsibility of enacting regulations off to state and municipal officials. Not because he was trying to pass the buck, but because Wyoming has quite different issues than New York. I bet you have no problem with how, many of the democratic governors have royally screwed the pooch when given that responsibility.

The idea that anyone considers the disease itself a hoax is ludicrous. There are plenty of us, however, that believe that the knee jerk reactions are media driven. For most age brackets, you are more likely to die of a car accident than COVID. Why shouldn't a major part of society start doing certain things again? Oh right, because we can pass it on to our parents and grandparents. I haven't seen my mother since Christmas because she would fall in the highest of high risk groups, being that she is 73 with major respiratory issues. Maybe liberals don't want to accept it, but there are ways to work without compromising the health of our loved ones. If you are not willing to make those sacrifices move back in with your Mommy, stay inside, and stop acting like we don't make sacrifices just because they are not the ones you would choose.

I would agree that it would be a bad idea to have games where fans are allowed to attend. That does not mean that I believe that games should not be played at all. I believe that most young people want to compete and can do so safely. If they do not feel comfortable then the NCAA should make concessions concerning their eligibility, but that will be a discussion regardless of what happens.

There is no chance that 2020 is going to be normal in any respect, but it doesn't mean that we have to crawl in a hole. Some of us actually want to live life rather than just existing.
