Punting stats are the most misleading stats in football. So a guy kicks for a 50 yard average. That means his guys can't get beyond the 30-40 yard line. But the guy who drops a pin inside the 10 yard line and gets a 30 yard kick. Who wins the Ray Guy Award?

Solid analysis. One thing though about GT's running game, though. True freshman Jahmyr Gibbs is a potential Heisman candidate if he continues to develop, with startling acceleration and top speed combined with shiftiness and leg drive; very hard to tackle in the open field. But he's being used in a three-back rotation (four with season starter Jordan Mason, out with an injury), and the other two tailbacks, Jamious Griffin and Dontae Smith, are solid performers. The tailback trio gained 119 yards as a group vs. Louisville, 234 against Syracuse and 145 against UCF (Gibbs didn't play in the opener). So the rushing game isn't all about Sims; he gets much of his yards scrambling on passing downs.
Of course, playing Clemson's defensive front will likely drop those numbers, but Gibbs is something to watch if he gets a half a step. And possibly a better receiver out of the backfield than a running back at the moment.

Gonna go out on a limb that the Tiger D can handle a great running back. They practice against the best in the nation and have for 4 years.
