What's the shelf life on liquor and spirits?

Jun 25, 2013, 4:30 PM

Serious question...

I have several bottles (opened) that traveled with me 4 years ago up here. I am throwing away the flavored liquors, except for the coffee Patron (that stuff is awesome), but what about vodka, etc?

I found a 3 or 4 year old bottle of 100 proof Fireball

Jun 25, 2013, 4:33 PM

It somehow got stashed in the back of the cabinet behind some other stuff. I drank it and didn't die.

Any base liquor might lose some of it's flavor notes but it

Jun 25, 2013, 4:36 PM

won't go bad. Flavored liqueurs can sour, but you can smell them and usually tell. Or, if you see sugars crystallizing in the bottle it's done for. Otherwise, they can last a few years as well.

Depending on the circumstances. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. All depends. Tigers win, a little longer. Tigers lose, less than an hour fer sure.
