Subject Change- Tattoos

Dec 27, 2012, 9:39 AM

Crazy change of subject.

What do you/Tiger Nation think about tattoos?

There seems to be a proliferation of them on the 18-28 year olds.

Just curious, personally I am not for them...

I will have a Tiger Paw real tat on my ankle area before I die-I'm 66 so yes I need to go ahead and do it-mine is football related as I will proudly be showing it off at games.

Not a donor.

Invalid opinion.

I don't like them or understand them but I'm 62 and like

Dec 27, 2012, 9:50 AM

many other things there is a generational gap. They obviously don't say as much about the person as they once did. For example, I had a car break-in last night and the bright, seemingly very capable young officer that responded had tattoos all over both arms. Not that I expect the crooks to be caught or to get the stuff back. That isn't his fault.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They won't catch them. Our house was broken in to several

years back. The detectives told us they found a match with the prints and the guy was in the computer. 3 years later, nothing.

Tattoos are modern day shag carpet and leisure suits !

Jun 6, 2022, 12:37 AM

I'm sure they will also look pretty scary when those folks are wrinkly old goats !

Wrinkly old goats, by nature, look scary.

Dec 27, 2012, 9:55 AM

Tattoos or not.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't see how you can be for or against them, really.

Dec 27, 2012, 9:54 AM

Lots of people have them, and they are no longer taboo in mainstream culture. I'd even say that more people under 40 have tattoos, than do not.

My company won't hire anyone with visible tattoos

Dec 27, 2012, 10:15 AM

It cost the company business when customers discontinue service due to less than presentable employees.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Most reputable companies are like that. Or they ask you to

Dec 27, 2012, 10:24 AM

cover them up.

Wonder why that is?

I have a tattoo on my face in honor of my hero Mike Tyson

I have always tried to pattern my life after Mike --- He seems to be an outstanding citizen and perfect role model for all ages.

Re: I have a tattoo on my face in honor of my hero Mike Tyson

Dec 27, 2012, 10:34 AM

I don't have a tattoo in honor of my hero Hitler... see that's a stupid argument. I don't personally have one or plan on getting one, but there's just as many dumb people without tattoos as there are with them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They would make more sense to me if they weren't permanent.

Dec 27, 2012, 10:21 AM

Then, you could change as the styles change.

Now, they're like constant reminders of bad decisions.

What about Dreadlocks?

Dec 27, 2012, 10:29 AM

I'd like to hear opinions on Dreadlocks. I've been thinking about getting them for about a year now.

2024 student level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My daughter had dreadlocks

Dec 27, 2012, 10:44 AM

At first I was against it, but she always keeps them clean and conducts herself appropriately. She plans on cutting them off before she finishes college.

Never had a problem with small, tasteful tattoos

Dec 27, 2012, 12:24 PM

I'm 39 and don't have any myself but I've thought about it from time to time. I still might get one one day, but it would be no more than 2 inches across and easily concealable...on my shoulder, for example.

I think people who get large, visible, gaudy tattoos in multiple places on their bodies look silly, at best. I don't generally like "sleeve" tattoos either. But hey, it's not my business if you want to look silly. My brother-in-law has about half a dozen tattoos and in my opinion, ALL of them are hideous and garish. But he likes them, so more power to him. He's going to look ridiculous when he's 70.
