This guy that went to my high school wanted to be a star really badly. Remember the fistfight scene in dirty dancing? You can see him in the background because he was an extra. He was always doing stuff like that. Somewhere along the line he became good friends with River Phoenix. They’d hang out, go on trips, etc, up until River ultimately died. It took us about 5 years (we were a little slow in Sheltered, SC) to realize that our high school friend was gayer than Jim J Bullock and this River Phoenix thing was probably different than a bro trip to dirty Myrtle.
Funny....now that I tell it, it wasn’t about Joaquin at all.
