Wish we still had the Gator Bowl... most of these suck.

May 6, 2013, 11:47 AM

Even the 2 Non-Peach Bowl SEC games are pretty lame.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Swofford is actually trying to mend that fence....

May 6, 2013, 11:55 AM

and re-establish the partnership between the Gator Bowl and the ACC.

Hopefully it works out. Jacksonville was generally a pretty good bowl trip.

That's reasurring that Swofford is on it!!***

Swofford couldn't negotiate his way out of his own driveway

May 6, 2013, 12:06 PM

with a GPS device.

My guess is the "alliance" (for lack of a better word) between the ACC and Notre Dame got the attention of the Gator Bowl and it was the Gator Bowl that initiated the discussion.

Agree. Jacksonville has always been one of those places

May 6, 2013, 12:08 PM [ in reply to Swofford is actually trying to mend that fence.... ]

Tiger fans love to go to and we have won some very historic games in the Gator Bowl in the past (pre-1991).

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If the weather cooperates, it's a good bowl destination....

May 6, 2013, 12:14 PM

If not, it can be a miserable trip. Two of the worst that come to mind are the 96 Gator Bowl v. Syracuse (torrential rainfall) and the 2001 Gator Bowl v. Virginia Tech (bitterly cold).

True. 86 Gator against Stanford was a cold day BUT

May 6, 2013, 12:15 PM

89 against WVU and Major Harris was a perfect cfb night.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it was the 86 Gator against Stanford....

May 6, 2013, 12:22 PM

where it was so foggy the pregame skydivers completely missed the stadium.

He wouldnt have that problem if he hadnt messed it up in the first place. Orange is fine. Peach is ok. After that we've got nothing. really weak lineup

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed but....

May 6, 2013, 12:29 PM

in fairness (and I am certainly no defender of Swofford), the league as a whole as given him very little with which to negotiate. While Clemson, FSU and VT have done their part, the rest of the league has failed miserably.

What on earth is the AdvoCare V100 bowl?

May 6, 2013, 12:07 PM

Is that a renamed bowl, or a new one?

Everyone should visit Shreveport once....

May 6, 2013, 12:17 PM

just as a reminder why you never want to go back ever again.

Our bowl trip in 1985 was more than enough to convince me.

Speaking of cold bowl games.....

May 6, 2013, 12:56 PM

in addition to renewing the partnership with the Gator Bowl, the ACC is also in discussions with the Pinstripe Bowl.

Perhaps it's just me, but New York's Yankee Stadium in late December ?!?!?!

I think I'll pass.

Boy-I had not forgotten that 19hr bus ride!!

Ah. Thanks

Forgive my non-enthusiasm for that destination, though...

While most are obvious....

May 6, 2013, 12:47 PM

while most are obvious, wouldn't it have made sense to have included the location of each Bowl in the article? So many things change , just seems odd that that wasn't included. No?

The ever-changing corporate bowl names are a confusing PITA.

May 6, 2013, 2:41 PM

I don't know whether or not to be excited about the Hanes Underwear Bowl. I wish they'd at least use both the ever-changing corporate sponsor's name AND the never-changing, good-old bowl name, like the Chic-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To be blunt

May 6, 2013, 7:09 PM

The Orange Bowl on Friday is a big deal. Makes the trip down to Miami a great trip....last time it was abnormally cold and in the middle of the week

A Friday game with normal Miami weather with a weekend behind the game sounds awesome.....if we ain't in The Rose..

Underscores how imperative it is to win the ACC

May 6, 2013, 7:46 PM

If we were to lose to FSU and either UGAy or USuC, we could realistically be a 10-2 team headed to the freaking Russell Bowl. What a joke.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that would be chic-fil-a or at large BCS***

Not a chance. No 10-2 ACC team will be invited to the BCS, and we went to Chic-fil-a last year. Russel...

Re: Football Update: ACC announces 2013 bowl schedule

Does the ACC still have the bowl located in San Fran? The list didn't have the sites included.

ACC is conditional for Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Fran.***
