I think the fake FG was the reason. Clemson had the lead and then they tried the fake and that allowed Wake to have good field position and drive down the field

but I don't think it was the reason we lost. It should have never come down to that in the first place. If the OL doesn't miss its blocks on third down the game is over.

The turnovers (the INT's by CW) happened in the first quarter. I can understand how that will effect the out outcome of the game, but it would have been smarting to go for the FG instead of faking it (Everyone praises how Jad Dean is the best in the country). Then that would have put Clemson up by 6 and then Clemson could kick off and Wake would have to drive a longer distance down the field. When they blocked that FG, it gave them the momentium and made them believe that they could win or tie. I guess it was a mixture of the offense playing crappy and bad play calling, but that game is in the past

Becuae both turnovers led to Wake points.

and they didn't have to move the ball very far in order to score. We turned the ball over both times inside our own territory.

if the players werent blowing coverage on Wakes WR all night. Tommy Bowden has put us into position to win every single game we have played this year. So get over it.

Maybe FSU, Miami, BC, A&M, GT, and NCST...

Yes, I said NCST, who has one of the best defenses in the nation, and we still torched them.
Please compare that to USC's schedule (I see Notre Dame. What else is there?)

I agree then, that Southern Cal hasn't played anyone with a good defense except ND

South Carolina has only played one really good defense

and one above average defense, namely Alabama and Georgia.
Auburn is NOT a great defense (ask Ga tech), neither is Tennessee (ask ND).
Vandy, Kentucky, Troy, and UCF are not good defenses.

I disagree. Auburn has a better defense than you think. Vandy has a decent, not good one, and the rest you named dosn't have good defenses.

foolhardy to care about that stat after the Duke game,
Nov 7, 2005, 11:20 AM

Although it is important that our offense is improving, our numbers have risen dramatically in just 3 weeks with Duke and Temple. Those numbers will almost surely drop some after playing better defenses like FSU.

Probably, but I think the improved offensive numbers
Nov 7, 2005, 11:25 AM

are also a product of a larger portion of Rob Spence's system being in place and the offense's comfortability with the playbook.
