Dad passed yesterday evening

Jun 27, 2020, 7:14 AM

Dad passed unexpectedly yesterday evening and it has left myself & family in shock. He was 69 years old, a '73 graduate of Clemson with a BS in Civil Engineering. I feel like someone has taken an axe to my sternum, and have felt it for the past 13 hours. I don't know anyone on here and I'm not sure why I'm posting this now other than I think I need to say this to someone. I've been up all night, crying half the time, trying to keep it together the other half. I still don't fully think this happened, not to my dad, not now. My mind is full of all the memories, both good & bad of him & the times we had together. I already miss him. The thing I'm not sure I'm ready for the most is the 1st football game, when they announce all the Tigers that have left us since the previous season. I can't hear my dad's name called out in procession, I'm not ready & don't know if I ever will be. I don't know why or for whom I'm writing this, but if anyone reading this finished CU in that time period in engineering, I'd be thrilled to know if you knew my dad back then.

Another Tiger has gone home awaiting our rejoining.

I love you Dad & I miss you so much already.

That is heartbreaking. Thank you very much for sharing. There is nothing anyone can say to make you feel better, but I definitely can feel your pain in your writing. Sorry for your loss of course.

our prayers. Loss of a parent is tough, they were the ones to comfort us as children and, to me, that seemed to compound the feeling. Hard to do, but use the good memories to help in the low times

You are right, that first game will be tough but hopefully, you will find comfort in the memories like I do each time I go back for a game.

It's tough, I've been there - but it gets easier every day. Be there for the rest of your family. Strong character shines through to others in moments of crisis. Take care.
