Sooo, what was the lesson to be learned from last night?

Jan 2, 2018, 12:24 PM

being that the Man upstairs works in mysterious ways.

  Lesson?    [Results]

Do NOT count your chickens before they have hatched
NEVER under estimate the Chip on Saban's Shoulder
NEVER throw into press man inside your own 20
DO Assume that after a month of preparation, very little of your offense you have on film will work against the tide.

The lesson learned is an old one

Games are won and lost in the trenches. WE haven't had a great O-Line in forever. We've recently had decent ones, but great? Nope.

Need 4 & 5* O-Linemen. Come here and start early should be the pitch. We are only missing you...

Yep - that lost was largely on the OL being dominated. Dominated. The. Entire. Game.

With more time for KB, with good run lanes, CU wins. Neither were there. The D held them to 10 points. Should've been plenty good.

2 passes bounciing straight i to theirs on their red zone did 't help***

While I agree with needing the line to play better, stars are probably least important to players on the offensive line. Teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska recruit mostly 3-stars and always have an O-Line that can just blow dudes off the ball.

Then why can we not do it?

Jan 2, 2018, 1:11 PM

We seem to steal ideas form other programs. Clemson should have plenty of corn fed farm boys to pick from (Like Nebraska and Wisconsin), yet no coaching staff has had a great line for at least 4 head coaches...

The offense that we play in doesn't help. You don't have to blow people off the ball and block downfield quite as much when they are spreading the ball all over the field to the play makers instead of just pounding it between the tackles.

Last years was pretty good, but comparing an o-line when playing against Bama is kind of a dumb thing to do to be honest.

Also, there aren't really that many 4 and 5* O-linemen, so it's not like they are there and we are just not putting in an effort to get them.

I can't decide what type of room it was

Oh well, such wit lost now that you fixed the headline.

In my opinion, our offense needs a little more imagination. We are pretty vanilla on what we do. Teams will have a more of a difficult time to prepare for us if our offense is more wide open.

Seems I've learned that lately it's a bad thing to be ranked #1 going into the playoffs.

The game was over before the season started

Jan 2, 2018, 8:47 PM

1) Bad matchups with Bama
2) No Deshaun who won it last year - KB not up to task
3) Bama had no respect for Clemson QB competence
4) Pre-game offensive play calling comical - 1st series: run up middle, screen, pass to HR?
4) Nick schooled Clemson coaches all night - Dabo involvement in play calling not beneficial
