The California league, even though it's "High A" as opposed to Low A in Asheville, is still very much a hitter's league and I don't see the point in putting him there, especially since he spent all of last season in Asheville. He really won't be challenged much more than he was last year. I wish the Rockies had started him at AA Tulsa to see how he fared. If he had struggled, then they could have sent him down to Modesto. Hopefully he won't be in Modesto long.

The Texas League is a hitter's league too and obviously

the PCL is for their AAA team, so much like in Denver, as you work your way up for their organization most guys will be playing in hitters friendly parks. The league avg between the Cali and Texas leagues are very similar as well as the HR % and both are much higher than their single and double A counter parts, so it looks like it was a strictly a decision based on the talent level level they want him playing against.
