Stats don’t justify worry about OL

Nov 18, 2018, 2:32 PM

We’ve given up 13 sacks in 11 games, 4 of which came against Syracuse with a backup QB. For your anxiety, Alabama has given up the same amount of sacks.

ETN is averaging 8.5 ypc
Choice is averaging 7.6 ypc
Feasted is averaging 5.5 ypc
LJD is averaging 10.5 ypc

None of those stats remotely scream trouble on the OL, unless you can’t see the forest for the trees and freak out every time we don’t bust a long one.

Sometimes I think we forget that the other team is trying too.

Like you said, we are protecting well and our running backs are getting their yards per carry.

They may not be as dominant as the DLine but the OLine is doing fine.

I mean to be honest, a lot of those stats are inflated because of playing teams like wake forest and Louisville who have nonexistent defenses. Running the ball on Alabama will not be easy

First of all, this Bama defense is not as strong as the

2016 and 2017 versions. No one expects an 8 ypc average, but we have plenty of talent at RB, a QB that can spread the defense, and a solid OL.

Cute. Cuz Ole Miss and Louisiana (oh yeh and UL) are so lights out on defense. Try again.

You are right on . Some people just don't want to hear that .

We’re averaging 6.3 yards per carry as a team which is #2 in the country if I’m not mistaken. And it’s not like we’re the only team in the country to face some bad run defenses. Also, if you’re judging the quality of an OL based on ability to run against Bama most years then there aren’t very many good OL’s in the country.

Clemson has all kinds of great stats on both sides of the ball. I’m beginning to think that the most important stats are centered around scoring, since all games results are determined based on the score. Here’s a stat I like (yesterday has not been added yet). Clemson is holding it’s opponents 18.2 pts under their average score. I haven’t looked at all, but I suspect Clemson is #1 in that stat.
