Someone explain to me please why Villanova

Is number 8 in BB and seems to do ok and we can't compete with them. I'm probably missing something but it just seems like we should have advantages over them in recruiting.

They are in a basketball rich area (Philli) and pull kids from PA, MD, and MA mostly. These 3 states happen to care about basketball. In South Carolina, high school basketball is something you do to keep in shape for football season. There aren't enough high D-1 prospects in South Carolina to support 1 team, much less 2 teams. Clemson has to go on the road and recruit whatever is left over from other basketball states.

They just would rather play for a "basketball school."
Raymond Felton, Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'neal, Ray Allen... they all played highschool ball in SC (and I realize 2 of them went straight to the NBA, but the point is there at least has been bball talent in SC)

they play FCS football and put most of their resources into basketball. Whereas our biggest events each year are home football games their biggest events each year are the "Big Five: games at The Palestra against Temple, LaSalle, Penn, and St Josephs.
They are also a urban school located in a talent rich region.
