Some companies are great economic indicators

Mar 30, 2020, 7:24 PM

I think UPS may be one of those, I’ve heard one of they’re divisions UPS freight is in the early stages of lay-offs. Of course this would be obvious though considering all the stay at home state orders. I’m usually very positive but from things I’m seeing we are absolutely headed too catastrophic Consequences.

FedEx drivers are working overtime. Got a delivery today at 6:30 PM and the driver said there was no let up. Amazon is also in an over time mode, but they make most of their deliveries. If UPS is laying off drivers, it's because they are not competitive and/or do not have contracts with the large on-line vendors.

I don't think I knew UPS did freight

When it's too big or heavy for regular UPS and a vendor isn't local, I always ask for FedEx Freight or whatever Yellow freight is now called.

UPS- Freight bought out Overnight. They ship mostly parts of shipments from many businesses on skids or oversized freight the savings comes from combining shipments on 1 trailer shipment(double trailers). They are called LTL carriers or less than a load carriers.
Ups-Freight, YRC- freight( Yellow freight & Roadway Freight merged), FedEx freight, Old Dominion, Conway Freight and the like are the first in trucking hit when businesses close because they need combined shipments to be profitable.

Now package system freight companies are rocking because they ship smaller mostly less than 50lbs no skids. From storage facilities to consumers or consumers to consumers. They are rocking because of eBay and Amazon shipments are going straight to consumers. Everybody can stay home & be served.

UPS-Package, FedEx-Package( Roadway sold Roadwaypackacge system or RPS) US postal packages are all hiring because they are rocking.
