Keep in mind Clemson does not remotely pad its stats since it plays so many guys, but this is insane. Clemson was #12 in offense coming into the week; now the Tigers average 530.4ypg, which would put them 7th, just ahead of UNC. Clemson was already ninth in total D at 279.8ypg, now it's down to 264.6ypg, which would put us 5th...though it's actually likely to be third since Pitt got skunked by Miami and the Fighting Falwells of Liberty did beat up Syracuse but gave up 308 yards in the process.
Needless to say, nobody else is remotely in the conversation as far as having both a Top-10 offense and defense in the country, and Clemson is shooting up both lists as its young players start to surge...and there is no doubt those youngsters are already looking notable better than they did at the beginning of the year.
Looking for challenges - Notre Dame is the obvious choice. The Irish rank 15th on both O and D; they're without question the best team remaining on Clemson's schedule and the only one in Clemson's zip code though the gap looks pretty substantial even there.
